Running a community

Inviting members from a spreadsheet

Upload a CSV with name and email columns, check the preview, then share the sign-in link.

For: Stewards, Organisations · Checked 27 October 2026

Stewards can bring members in from a spreadsheet, in the console’s Invite tab.

  1. Export a CSV file with a “name” column and an “email” column. You can also include programme, year, skills and interests.

  2. Upload it. We check the file and show a preview. Nothing is saved yet.

  3. Check the preview. Rows with problems are listed with their line number. When you confirm, the valid rows are added.

  4. Send people the sign-in link shown on the Invite tab.

  • Files can be up to 5 MB and 5,000 rows.
  • Columns we do not recognise are ignored, and the preview tells you which.
  • The Invite tab counts how many people are waiting, joined or said no thanks.

Invited people choose what to share. Mention this when you invite them: what they share with stewards is how you can introduce them well.

  • The steward console

Set up your space, see what members shared with stewards, make introductions and automate small chores.

  • Joining a community

Accept an invitation sent to your email, or ask to join a community that is open to requests.

  • Who can see your profile

Every field starts as “Only me”. You choose, field by field, who else sees it, and every change is recorded.
